The short version
This site is made for kids, so it collects as little as possible. There are no ads, no tracking, no analytics and no accounts. Kids never need to type in anything about themselves, and the site never asks a child for an email address.
The Brave Kid certificate
The name you type on the certificate stays in your browser. The certificate is drawn on your own device, and downloading or sharing it doesn’t send the name anywhere.
New-episode emails
Parents and guardians can sign up to get an email when a new episode comes out. The signup is for grown-ups only, and asks you to confirm you’re a parent or guardian, 18 or older.
We keep your email address, the date you signed up and where on the site you signed up, in a private Google Sheet, and send the emails from our Gmail account. That’s all we keep.
You’ll get a short welcome email, then one email per new episode, about once a week. Every email has an unsubscribe link, and you can also just reply and ask. We never sell or share your email, and we don’t use it for anything else.
To have your email deleted, write to mayaandthefog@gmail.com and we’ll remove it.
Things other companies see
The site is hosted by Vercel, which keeps standard server logs. Fonts come from Google Fonts, so your browser asks Google for them. Episode pages include a Spotify player, which is Spotify’s own, and is covered by Spotify’s privacy policy. Listen links take you to Spotify, Apple Podcasts, iHeart or YouTube, which have their own policies.
